Worn Out Workshop, Hermitage Lane, Aylesford

Along the bottom half of Hermitage Lane there used to be a series of whitewashed bungalows that were part of the British Legion Village. Over the years they have slowly been disappearing, at the beginning neglected and lost behind the undergrowth, and then latterly demolished to make way for the likes of an Aldi superstore, a drive-through McDonalds and more importantly flats for ex servicemen. Some are still there but they are becoming fewer and fewer with each passing year. This one has now been abandoned so the workshop (main image) was open to the elements, which did make for an arresting sight in the strong sunshine.
The first extra, "Off Key Keyboard", is of the back of the property. I've no idea why they left behind an expensive looking instrument like that. The last extra is of the rear driveway looking towards the house itself.
On a different note we've now learnt our village is getting even more houses built in it - this time it's a retirement village but I suppose at least it will be on the sight of an old quarry. However, the infrastructure, particularly the road network, is going to struggle to cope.
Also, the next village along from us is still fighting against the possibility of a huge housing estate that, if built, would swamp it. The housebuilders  are now trying to sue the council because they say the decision is taking too long and will land the council with a huge legal bill if they lose. It's a form of financial bullying and many of these housebuilders have way too much power. Local people should have a say in any scheme and not have something like this imposed on them. It leaves many small communities feeling hopeless and helpless. If this is what the present government sees as the way forward then shame on them. There must be a better way.
