Hello, Darkness, My Old Friend
I was on my morning walk when I saw the cat. It was black, with white mittens. It was lying on the road, and as I walked toward it, it got up and moved away from me, back toward the house where I know it lives.
It kept turning around and looking at me, as though to make sure I was following, and it felt like having an escort! As I looked ahead, a second dark shape materialized: another cat! So here was the scene at the end of Stonerow: in which I am flanked, by two bits of stealthy, liquid darkness, aka felines!
In other news, the sea power iris that I planted on Dexter's grave in September is blooming and it is gorgeous. I think it was supposed to be a sort of bright blue, but it is actually purple, which suits me just fine! Tiny Tiger and I went out to look at it and snap some photos; one appears in the extras.
I was listening to my tunes box on my walk and the Doors song Riders on the Storm came on. I wondered 1) whose brilliant idea it was to actually include the sound of rain at the start of the song, and 2) when it will finally rain here, for we sure could use some. I miss the sound and the smell of rain; I miss its patterns and the sweet music the rain makes on my favorite pond.
My soundtrack songs are Disturbed, with The Sound of Silence; and the Doors, with Riders on the Storm.
