Bastion Steps
Enough of shady damp woodland I decided to do something different this morning. I've lived in this part of Sussex for more than 25 years but I've never been to Peacehaven (or New Anzac-On-Sea as it was originally named when founded in 1916 to house returning WWI veterans). Low tide was a t 8am so I set off early with clear skies and headed for the Channel coast. I soon found the Bastion Steps - 188 steps cut into the chalk cliffs like some ancient ziggurat - and had a good hour on the wave cut chalk platform below before it started to cloud over. Definitely worth another trip before too long.
