Safe to cast a clout now that the may blossom is out. This year it seems to be especially abundant.

This combination of clear blue sky, white hawthorn blossom and vivid green grass always reminds me of David Hockney's wonderful 'Hawthorn Blossom near Rudston' and his description of it looking as if' thick white cream had been poured over everything'.
