Penrith Plaza

... and now for something completely different. Here is a glimpse of Penrith Plaza, which is one of the larger shopping malls in western Sydney and basically our nearest large shopping facility. It seems to have become fashionable to hate shopping malls but we like coming here. Living in a backwater at the top of a nearby mountain can be pretty stultifying at times. Wonderful and peaceful yes. Scenic, yes. But every couple of weeks we like some shops and cafes and retail therapy and  ... um ... noise ... at least for a little while..

I realise of course that in some parts of the world shopping malls are dying but it must be remembered that their basic design and function remains pretty logical. In spite of COVID's impact on business generally and burgeoning online retail's impact on b&m locations in particular, the mall looks pretty healthy still. .
