Press freedom
Today we returned, this time our friends G and D, to our favourite institution in Canberra – the Museum of Australian Democracy. The building was Australia's first Parliament House. It was G & D's first visit and, like us, they were fascinated.
We visited an exhibition we haven't seen before called 'Truth, Power and a Free Press'. A feature we sat watching for some time was a 7 foot tall audio visual display where 12 of Australia’s leading journalists talked about why they do the work they do, the courage it takes and the responsibility they feel for reporting fairly and fearlessly. It was fabulous.
The photo shows just four of the journalists and our friend G is sitting in the foreground watching intently.
