Snow Shoes Rock Ptarmigan

This is the female, the male is in extras together with a photo of the happy couple together, very briefly to show their amazing camouflage. I was holding my breath when I spotted them, such high altitude, rare birds. I know they live on the Cairngorm Plateau too. Here they are not far below the mid station of the Glacier 3000 lift. No one goes there at this time of year, the skiing is finished and there is too much snow for walkers. I shall return often now I have a pass for the lift in summer. How exciting!
