Random Accessed Memories

My dads koraakoffs syndrome affects his short term memory and decision making capabilities. He doesn't know this but he does know that people think is he is well if he can recite certain events that have taken place that day if tested.

I think he hates not knowing what he has done that morning or yesterday so a lot of his ACTUAL time is taken up keeping this journal. It has quite detailed accounts of who called and who Didn't (no contact from family is often noted) along with codes to denote if he has filled his fountain pen, lighter (even though he is banned from smoking) and a (w) which, looking in the back of the diary means "wardrobe" I have no idea why...

It is quite interesting reading but doesn't tell you much about him as a person as it is the pure basic "facts" of the day. No feelings or opinions. No stories or opinions. This is dads memory. His short term, random access memory. Ask him about his life working as an MD of one of the biggest companies in the UK traveling the globe and he will tell you stories of china, the states, cambodia and everywhere in between. Ask him what he did yesterday and he will reach for the book...
