Shymbulak

The second full day in Almaty, Kazakhstan. We had a taxi/guide booked for the day (very reasonable prices out here) but started by going back to the airport as our luggage had finally arrived, a day and a bit after we did. What a relief, it was covered in many labels but was all intact.

We first went to ride the cable cars and chair lifts up to the snow at Shymbulak. After the warmth of the city it was amazing to be walking around on snow. We grabbed lunch before coming down. We took another drive and then had a hike up to the first waterfall at Ayusai. It was a great walk and a popular destination.

This evening we’ve had a fab dinner in the city, which was still full of colour, music and people as we departed after 11pm.
