Saturday: #30DaysWild - Butterfly and Italian Kale
Not many butterflies around up to now, but this morning this Speckled Wood landed on the grass so I took a couple of very quick (and not very good) photos. A Red Admiral also passed through but didn’t land :-((
Cavollo Nero / Italian Kale is doing very well in current dry conditions, there are about half a dozen mature plants dotted around the garden, planted last year or even before that! I cut the top leaves from one plant to add chopped kale to tonight’s curry. Remembered that my Dad used to cut a cross into cabbage stems after harvesting the centre so thought I’d try it out on the kale - will try to remember to check it for new growth!
Watched Andrew Lloyd Webber on new series of “Who do you think you are?” - a fascinating story of incredible individuals in his ancestry :-)
Potted on 5 Courgette plants “Striato d’Italia” which makes 6 in all - fingers crossed they’ll continue growing and that rain will arrive so I can plant them in the veggie beds …
Also potted on Italian tomato seedlings - they’re outside in a large plastic storage box to protect from slugs!
Photo of colourful corner of the garden with a variety of flowers for the pollinators, grasses which will have seeds for the birds and on the wall an assortment of saucers which get refilled with fresh water every day, ready for any thirsty creatures :-))
Nos da pawb / goodnight all xx
