St Jame's Park, NUFC and Me

Some of us should have known better, but we couldn't resist. We organised a match at St Jame's Park against another local team. They were younger, fitter and better practiced than us - plus they had a Coach and even tactics!

We were winning 1:0 at half time and holding our own, even though we had never played together. Most of us came together and met for the first time only an hour before. Their superior fitness payed off in the second half and they scored a few lucky goals. We eventually lost 4:1. Not a bad result considering! And, I can still walk, which is a great bonus.
