A nice pond

This afternoon I went to visit some gardens…nine out of 25 which were open…in Sheen, SW London near Richmond Park. Most that we visited were mature gardens attached to large houses so were of a good size. Lots of lovely roses in bloom with such great scent. It was interesting to note that most of the owners had lived in their houses a long time and were definitely  aged 60+ . Most of the gardens looked like they were tended by the owners..not immaculate…. but the first one we went to was huge and very well tended, not a weed in sight.. and the lady said they did have a gardener. The entrance fees were for a local charity which assist older people in the community, organises social events,  takes them to hospital appointments etc. they had two of their minibuses going round the area today giving people lifts. We walked over two miles and only covered about a quarter of the gardens so welcomed a ride back to our car!

The friend I went with was looking for ideas for her garden which needs a makeover. We thought this pond was nice, it had good planting and had lots of dragon flies etc. She thought something similar would be good for her.
