Babbling Brook
We took a walk down across the fields to the beaver stream. Since the farmer removed their dams a year or so back it's been without beavers but I'm sure they will be back.
We'd been listening to a New Scientist podcast coming from the Knepp estate, where they have introduced two beavers and they talked about amazing it was that the beavers had transformed a really small stream into a series of ponds and marshy areas. Which is how it is here when they get to work. They turn this tiny brook into this.
It has only rained once since the snow melted so the stream is rather low just now and the soil (and our garden) is very dry.
The field behind the trees here is full of dandelions, hence that yellow tinge. As we walked we were amazed at how many flowers there were, both variety wise and sheer amount. One field looked purple, absolutely full of wild pansies. Jan blipped and wrote about the flowers.
This was our first time doing this walk since the snow melted and that always feels good. Usually this walk has some rather boggy sections, which is why we'd waited, but all the path was bone dry.
What a nice place to live!
PS - Three days of blip done - now I've caught up.
