Young Goldfinch

There were two juvenile goldfinches in the back garden this morning, routing about in the slate clippings and having a drink from the bird bath. There were no adults around so they must have moved on to become independent from their parents. As juveniles they have yet to develop their bright red heads but have already got their lovely patterned tail feathers.
