Mallaig harbour
Today was a travel day. First we drove from Benderloch (just north of Oban) to Mallaig. Then we sailed in Gripper II from Mallaig to Doune, along with our bikes and an American family of four (Matt, Lauren, Caitlin, and Rhys). It was a short walk from the pier at Doune to our stone lodge accommodation for the next four nights.
We booked our stay here on the recommendation of Arclight, alfthomas, and Winsford - thank you! (I also see that a few other blippers have visited the stone lodges too, for example AndrewDBurns, atseacliff, and lovenature.)
We arrived in Mallaig with plenty of time to spare before the departure of the boat to Doune. As experts in eking out entertainment in remote locations, Mr hazelh and I enjoyed a happy couple of hours pottering around town. We discovered that this is a much more easily done on a warm sunny day than it is in the cold. We visited the public library (Mr hazelh worked on his Gaelic, I caught up on various tasks on my computer), munched on sandwiches in a café, visited various shops, admired the steam train, observed a multitude of tourists, and looked out from the pier as we waited for our boat.
My main blip is of the harbour at Mallaig. The extra shows the sun setting over the Sleat peninsula on Skye, with the peaks of the Cuillins in the far distance, taken from the balcony of our stone lodge just before we turned in for the night.
Exercise today: small amount of walking (7654 steps).
