Missed It!
"You better come see this sunset!" Robert ordered, taking me away from an engrossing Netflix show. By the time I looked out at the sky red beams of light were shooting out like the crown around the Statue of Liberty. Really. I grabbed my camera and laced up my hiking boots that happened to be on the front steps and hopped into the car to drive one block to the school in the hope of grabbing some of this beauty into the camera. But there was an event at the school and parking was tight and by the time I ran around the building and up toward the fire escape stairs to the third floor, the show had subsided. There was actually someone at the top of the stairs, so I yelled that I was coming and I ran up and saw what was still left. The young woman had captured the glory moment on her I-phone so I admired her picture, introduced myself and I drove her back to her home. It turned out her boyfriend had called her from work downtown to warn her it was going to be a great sunset and she went running out the the house just like I did. A new sunset chasing friend.
