Green Lake

Green Lake is a small and very attractive lake in the middle of a wheat-belt area with sandy beaches, powered camping sites, showers and lots of picnic/barbecue areas, bush walks, gum trees and shade.

The lake, which was dry for several years, has had water for the last couple of years and is suitable for swimming and limited boating.

It is located about 10 minutes from Horsham, on the main Melbourne highway heading towards Stawell.

We must have been past this place a thousand and one times on our way to and from Melbourne. Because of the rain, it really wasn't hiking weather today, so we headed into Horsham for a rowing workout.

I saw some interesting trees in the lake and decided that their reflections would look interesting if I took out the tripod to set up the shot in the dull light.

This is the landscape which is adjacent to the Grampians National Park - wheat belt country.

See in large.

Thanks so much for all the comments over the past couple of days - we have limited internet connectivity, and I'll try and get back to everyone as soon as we get back to Adelaide, over the weekend.

Thanks to the suggestion by btc, I have now add my favourite 4 photos of kangaroos to my blip folio, all shot yesterday. The last 2 photos are of a 14 year old huge kangaroo called lemon tree. He came right up to our table in the restaurant and the last one is shot through the glass - he was that close. He would stand almost 6' tall.
