Metaphor for fossil fuels

So for Thoroughly Rotten Thursday*, here's a thoroughly rotten jetty. If you take the ferry from Nigg to Cromarty, it's on your right as you leave the slipway. It's a long time since the offshore oil construction boom, and the jetty has been rotting ever since. Given the scaling up of offshore wind energy construction coming here soon, its days are numbered.

* I never bother with blip challenges, but I though I'd invent one of my own. And I'm the only entrant, so I win. Ha ha!
