Cherries
A day at home, alternating between post-burglary admin and keeping in touch with Jack and Marianna via WhatsApp messages and photos. The latter was definitely a good antidote to the former.
I did pop round to their house to drop off a card and some small gifts for Frieda and for Simone. I knew they'd all still be at the hospital though, so there was no risk of bumping into each other before we all agree that the shingles/chickenpox risk has gone away. Then they finally got home later in the afternoon. All still going well, though Marianna has quite a lot of post-op pain to cope with.
As it happens, both spots and itching have cleared up, so I'm hoping that we will all meet up on Saturday.
The image is an evening shot of a branch of our morello cherry tree. It's been so dry that I keep having to water the garden.
I have also been following the news from Ukraine, following the dam explosion. As ever, the Ukrainians are pulling out all the stops to rescue people and to do whatever else they can in the face of this atrocity. Unicef, the Red Cross and many other organisations are raising emergency funds - again. The scale of it all is just staggering, even in the context of so much destruction already brought about by the Russian invasion. There's one fund-raising link below (the Ukrainian government), but others are, of course, available...
