Aquabus

Today we were tired so, after I'd had a video call with Y and handled some emails, we checked out of the hostel, leaving our luggage to collect later. We then walked through Downtown Vancouver to the Hornby Street dock, where we took the two-minute Aquabus to Granville Island. Although I'd been there once before, that was a slightly drunken after-conference outing to the brewery. Today we toured the attractive but expensive indoor market, and then the many small shops nearby. We bought some post cards and souvenirs, and then went to the brewery. I had four quarter-pint tasters and we shared a plate of charcuterie and cheese. Afterwards we found an excellent independent bookshop, where we added to our purchases. Finally we had ice creams and made our way back to the hostel by way of the main Vancouver public library - necessary tourism for A! The journey to the railway station was quick, giving us lots of time to wait for the departure to Seattle. On arrival in Seattle, we took a taxi to our final night's accommodation: the Pan Pacific hotel. Quite a step up from four nights at the Cambie Hostel in Vancouver but, knowing that we'd be arriving late and how dodgy Downtown Seattle can be, there was little choice!
