Bleeding Hearts

The correct name for these stunning flowers is Lamprocapnos spectabilis, but they are commonly known as old-fashioned bleeding heart.

Other common names are Venus's car,Lady in a bath the very decriptive Dutchmans trousers and Lyre Flower.

They originate from Japan and were first introduced to England in the 1840s by Scottish plant hunter Robert Fortune.
