The wisteria blossom has a short & beautiful life. Now its getting blown off the branches in the autumnal gales...
I've been up to Broomfield plastic surgery dept for another episode of Laser treatment for my birthmark. This is the 3rd lot.
Zapping the lumps & bumps... lovely consultant & nurse specialist, who are very pleased to have a nice 'mature port wine stain' to work on. Most of the people having laser treatment for birthmarks are younger, so the birthmark is easier to treat.
As you get older, the blood vessels that make up the mark get denser & make the lumps. That change also makes the mark darker - mine started off a rather attractive light red, and now is a kind of marroon, which goes much darker when I'm cold.
Because there aren't many people of my age going for treatment, the process is one of informed but cautious trial and error.
The anaesthetic contains adrenaline, which makes me shake. I thought that happened to everyone (like at the dentist) but apparently it means that I'm very sensitive to adrenaline. So they took care of me & made sure I was OK before I left. Lovely people.
The worst bit is the 3" needle they use to inject the local anaesthetic.
