Friday
Today started off in the usual way with a dog walk. Sometimes I treat Hetty to an ice cream on the way home. She's always hopeful when we walk pass the cafe at the top of the locks.
Incidentally, the Caen Hill flight is currently closed due to a lack of water and a problem at the pumping station at Foxhangars. I was talking to holiday makers yesterday. They weren't unhappy because the weather is so good but disappointed about the locks. All being well, they should be open again sometime tomorrow.
Once back home, I got a call from my brother. He's a building surveyor and was in Bradford on Avon to do a survey. As he was walking up a hill, a truck came by and its wing mirror struck him on the back of the head causing him to collapse. The truck did not stop.
This happened outside a row of shops and someone arranged a taxi to take him to A&E in Trowbridge. The taxi driver took Nigel's keys and later retrieved his car and parked it at his house.
Nigel said the truck driver must have known he'd hit something.
Anyway, the hospital checked him out and as his skull wasn't damaged and there was no blood, they said he could go. He's advised to have a quiet few days.
So, I went to collect him. He told me his head ached and he just wanted to go to bed. What a shock!
Another glorious day.
