Roses and Salvia

Our garden often looks quite arid, because it is! The plants that do best are things like cactus and agave, but with all the rain we had this year the non-arid plants have thrived. I particularly liked this display of the burgeoning salvia next to the wall and the roses above it which have been blooming for months.

I just had a call from an old Berkeley friend and we talked for ages getting caught up, bemoaning the fact that neither of us wants to drive outside our respective counties anymore and promising to try and figure out a way of getting together.

It was lovely to hear from her and to get caught up, and now it is wine time, so it is a short entry today. I can almost hear the sighs of relief....
