Nice sherbet lemons and Winegums. what nice thoughts
Great big gob stoppers and pear drops sublime
These are the sweeties I bought all the time

Aniseed balls and Invalid toffee
Chocolates too and the favourite was coffee
Sweet barley sugar in long twisted sticks
Coconut mushrooms and long penny licks

Lemonade crystals and liquorice bits
Cough drops and candy and sweet cherry lips
Cushions of satin and soft centred fruits
Things looked like twiglets that were liquorice roots

Weighed in a brass scales by the lovely shop lady
One penny or tuppence we always paid
All of these memories now I must stop
Thinking about that old fashioned sweet shop
