Puffins Galore
The only birds missing today were the Artic Terns ….. not one to be seen. No one seems sure why but a breeding pair of Peregrine Falcons are thought to be the problem. I do hope they return because although vicious they are very beautiful.
The Puffins are always the star of the show on the May Isle and many stand for ages with the beaks crammed full of sand eels waiting for the right moment to scuttle back to their burrow to feed the single puffling.
Plenty of Guillemots, Gulls, Razorbills and even one or two Oystercatchers.
Weather was great and the crossing relatively calm. Not a spare seat on the boat and we were like sardines in a tin …. plenty of chat and comparing photos.
