Golden Cap
From Stonebarrow Hill near Charmouth.
Best viewed large!
At 191m high, Golden Cap is the highest cliff along the south coast of England.
We were walking and geocaching along Stonebarrow Hill - a truly well hidden National Trust gem. We were at 150+m in height along this stretch of the coast with walks right across the countryside and right down to the top of the cliffs overlooking Charmouth West beach where we had been this morning.
Didn't expect to go back there today but the weather forecast was worse the further east you went - You can see from the clouds and dark sky in the distance that we made the right choice.
I have a three image pano of the same scene taken a little further along, but I prefer the dark broody sky of this image with Golden Cap lit up with sunshine and standing out against the dark skies beyond.
Shortly after I took this we retired back to the NT shop for an ice-cream, then arrived back at the cottage just before the rain came down.
A lazy evening in now I suspect - some wine and beer to keep us company.
