Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep

We normally get sparrows nesting in the eves at the back of the house but this year we also have them at the front. For what seems over a week we've heard the chirping getting louder so we will be getting close to them fledging... hence the kittens are now under house arrest, which they hate. We might try to give them some time outside.

They have already had some house time when the blackbird chicks were out. I forget if I have ever checked what happens in the breeding season, sparrows have 2-5 eggs, incubated for up to 2 weeks, fledge after another 2 weeks, then cared for out of the nest for another 2 weeks, The female lays her next eggs a few days after the last batch our out of the nest. Usually they have 2-3 clutches a year. This is quite some schedule for them, I am not sure if we are on clutch 1 or 2. All quite fascinating...
