It was a cloudy start to the day with a few spots of rain. I decided to go out before it got busy . . . just to Bowness. I was there long before the lake cruises start but staff were around and I soon worked out that people were being transported north along the lake for the start of the Great North Swim at Brockhole as there is limited parking on site.

Back at the car I unlocked it but it wouldn’t open. Tried again and still no luck. Panic as my AA details were inside. Then I realised I was pressing the lock button instead of unlock.

Home for breakfast then I washed the car before there’s any talk of a water shortage or hosepipe ban. By that time the sun was shining and the temperature rising. The day has also included ironing, gardening and general tidying.

The painter arrives tomorrow to start the outside of the house. I may be doing a series of local blips called ‘around the block’.
