Gnat Catcher
‘A’ and family left at lunchtime. Just had time for coffees on the terrace at the Nici. Overcast, drizzly but quite warm and horribly humid out. Luckily we found a rare parking space near the entrance.
The two of us then walked to Westbourne to drop off an Evri parcel (good old eBay, my 3rd sale - of unwanted items - in as many weeks)
Then straight home, and after a day of Spring cleaning, 2 ½ days of ‘entertaining’, and a poor night’s sleep (too hot), been relaxing and will have an early night.
NB This is my latest fly-eater. Apparently easy to look after. Small, but as you can see stunningly formed! (NB Cropped, but no other editing).
“When insects are first trapped, the leaves roll lengthwise toward the center. This aids digestion by bringing more digestive glands in contact with the prey. The plant leaf surrounds the prey within an hour while tentacles continue to move to further trap the prey. Digestion takes well over 6 hours after a prey's original ensnarement”
