Moirlanich longhouse

Visited the longhouse today, very interesting with some lovely old quilts, tab rugs and old clothing. Also on display was a handknit jumper from yarn spun from wool found on fences around the area and all died with natural dyes form locally found plants. Only I forgot to take a photo as I was so enamoured by it.

However outside was this stunning orchid ( a northern marsh orchid I think) which I did thankfully photograph. It was much larger than the ones we get on the moor at home so I am not convinced of my identification.

Had a lovely meal out, superb food and a very enjoyable evening chatting with locals about lots of things but especially Nicola Sturgeon’s arrest!
