Bright Bouquet
We had Sunday breakfast instead of Sunday dinner with the family and a good time was had by all. Waffles and fruit and bacon and a lot of lively conversation with son and granddaughter. Got an insight into what weddings cost—averaging $30,000–are you kidding??! It’s a business, not a celebration of a loving union. How awful to be caught up in all that silliness. L, at least, seems to have her head on straight and wants a fairly simple, but large, party without a lot of frou-frou. And there will be no palette for the guests! (I have friends who’ve been asked to wear specific colors to a wedding, not as members of the bridal party, but as guests…) She just wants a big outdoor space where they can have a taco truck and a band. Apparently it’s hard to find a large venue that doesn’t require you to buy their catering service and their planning service and their floral service et al. They’d have it at home except they’d need event insurance. Modern life is extremely complicated. Almost 34 years ago to the day, we got married in the backyard with a nice cake, a table full of finger food, and a local Balkan folk band.
Anyway, along with the orange juice, my son brought me flowers this morning.
