Ruvuma ivume

In this phrase, ivume translates literally as ‘let it blow’. It’s printed on some t-shirts for our Ruvuma landscape programme. In English I believe the translation would be more along the lines of ‘advance’ or ‘progress’, signifying that we’re making strides in our projects.

The sky was brooding and it led to some biblical rain in the afternoon. It was even loud enough to be heard through the roaring air conditioners and heavy curtains within which we’ve been sitting all week, without access to fresh air or light. The freshness in the air was very welcome when we stepped outside.
