Baie de Somme

This is the observation tower at the Baie de Somme services on the A16 autoroute. We stop there both on the way to Le Mans and on the way back. It sits alongside a nature reserve, a rather more peaceful association with the Somme than that perhaps more commonly known. It was a good journey home. We tried a new Routier cafe for lunch this year, just off the A28 and a bit closer to Rouen than the one we used to stop at in the past.  A three course meal plus cheese board for 15.5 euros. Great grub and excellent value. And then straight onto the train when we arrived at the Calais shuttle terminal. As ever, driving in France was a very enjoyable and pothole-free experience. Tomorrow is the London Legal Walk - 10 kilometres around Central London - so I'd better get a good night's sleep...
