Au Revoir...
...... Toulouse!
Obviously I am home now and back blipping...Am still in jet lag, so am behind in almost everything including blipping...
The flight home had its ups and downs..heh heh..FOUR to be precise, as we had to come down for a connection in Paris! I was quite aware of each up and down as I was in charge of the exit door, and it seemed to me that that would most likely be when those doors might need to be opened? On take-off and landing? less likely at 30,000 feet over the Atlantic? Unless we landed on water? Yikes...Who knew that with an "extra legroom" seat came the responsibility to get hundreds of people safely off the plane? And I paid more for that? Luckily, all went well while in the air in the hands of Air France, and my life-saving skills, or lack thereof, were not needed!
Any issues we had were not in the air but in the airports! Toulouse airport was great...not crowded, open spacious and comfortable..ever so manageable..
CDG Paris was not. It was the usual chaos and log jam at security and passport control...with hordes of travellers trying to make their connections and realizing they would not at this rate! Why-oh-why can they not figure out how to move that faster? Like put on more staff? I have never been through CDG when it was any different..always a frustrating experience..We barely made our connection. We were the last to board...but once we were settled in, all went well.
..until Toronto Pearson of course...which was almost as frustrating as CDG with its line-ups, and the chaos of trying to find our baggage..but we were home ...and glad to be here, but also anxious to see the smoke situation...
We had been concerned about the smoke for days...According to the limo driver, it was much better that day than it had been; and the forecast was for rain the next day, which would help clear the air some more, but then the weather system moving in behind it looked as if it could make matters worse again. There are fires still out of control; this is not over.
What a wake-up call for all of us, especially for those who still doubt climate change...We have been warned about this for decades and here we are...getting out our masks and our puffers...
And so ends a great holiday...not with a bang but a wheeze...
