The two of us

I went to Boxers lake with blipper LesleyAlsford, just for a mooch around and a chance of a blip.  There were lots of families of birds out taking the water on a hot and humid day but what caught our eye was this Mandarin duck and her one offspring.  Mandarins lay about 6 - 8 eggs in holes in trees, often high up - and often in other mandarins nests so it is surprising just to see one but they made a contented looking family unit.

It rained yesterday afternoon for 10 minutes so no need to water the allotment today.
