Self-medicating

Molly has been out of sorts recently. She was very subdued on Sunday (very unlike her and her breed) but perked up a bit yesterday. Today she found some juicy grass and I let her feed on this for a good while.
On Thursday we are off with her to a specialist veterinary eye practice to see what can be done about her rapidly failing eyesight. Excuse the pun but costs are eye-watering. £250 for the examination, £150 for the ultrasound. Without examining her yet they think she will need a cataract removed, £4500, or two for £5500. She is insured but it won’t cover all the costs. My wife has just been through this and these costs are a sobering insight into a privatised NHS.
