Not sure this is going to work!

You might remember a while back I posted picture of the house just round the corner from us, when it was for sale. As our garden backs onto its garden, we were wondering what might happen to this old cottage, which used to be the village smithy. We hoped that it wouldn't be bought to be replaced with a larger house or that it was sold as a holiday cottage.

In the end the best thing happened - it was bought by a young local woman who was going to live in it whilst she got a few things done to it. Much of this work she was planning on doing herself . . . with a bit of help. She told us what she had planned, which was really quite a bit of internal work and then a separate little studio to be built in the garden.

We saw the plans and they looked good. We did notice that she planned to take off the render to reveal the original stone/bricks. Today we noticed that this work was being started. I took the photo from the garden as I didn't want to disturb the workmen. They seemed to be having a lot of discussion about it, but the owner wasn't there.

Later in the day we noticed to our horror that the entire wall had been taken down, the kitchen had a wall missing and the roof was being held up with posts. Now it has all been boarded up. We will find out later what happened and whether it was deliberate. I do hope so. . .
