Be kind

Part of a last-minute project for Refugee Week; this year the theme is ‘compassion.’
At the centre today solicitors came to explain the justice system to groups of clients. I was asked to interpret for a French-speaker, always a pleasure for me, even though my French isn’t that good. It was interesting to see UK justice and police rules through the eyes of someone from a much harsher and corrupt system. She was amazed that accused people are provided with a free solicitor if needed. She was also intrigued by the probation service, and the idea that the police had codes of conduct.
