Finding My Bearings

By JustJuli

Enough’s enough?

The chronic condition that flares up every year or so has hit me. I’m supposed to be given antibiotics at the first sign of a twinge but it’s taken five days of battling a broken NHS to get a prescription. Needless to say, I’m now in absolute agony, which could have been avoided. Thinking I’d have to glue myself to the pavement outside my doctor’s surgery, thankfully the 111 service came to the rescue. They did say I might have to go over an hour away to pick it up but the duty doctor who called me back issued the prescription straight away, sent directly to our village pharmacy.

I was supposed to be able to collect my medication this afternoon but the pharmacy was ridiculously busy and hadn’t done it. I had a complete meltdown when they asked if they could deliver it to me tomorrow. They were very sympathetic and I just went back to get it. Very surprised that there are two lots to be taken together, never had that before!

Anyway, I know there are people with much more serious issues that need to be sorted, and reading about the long-awaited operations cancelled today because of the doctors’ strike is heartbreaking, but we just can’t go on like this.
