PRA

PRA = Progressive Retinal Atrophy

The other day I mentioned we were taking our Molly dog to the specialist eye hospital today to have her eyes looked at to see what can be done about her increasingly bad eyesight.
The quick answer is: absolutely nothing. She will go completely blind and she is almost blind already. It is untreatable because her photoreceptor cells cannot convert light into signals to her brain. It is an inherited disease.
She has been discharged although we can take her back in six months to see where she is then but to be honest it would be a waste of time.
We are buying some additional accessories for her including a halo to project in front of her to help prevent her walking into objects if she is in the garden by herself.
The blip? We started our journey home by travelling up the old main road, still called the A6. We stopped in a lay-by with a view of the Lake District hills. You can see the M6 which replaced the A6 as the main arterial route to Scotland (right) from the south (left) and the main west coast rail line this side of the M6. There is also a lamb which is flaked out which reflects how hot it was here.
