Wheels within wheels? ... NO.
Wheels below wheels? ... YES.
It's not often we take off william nilliam so to speak. The Lass's INR sample taken, necessary shopping done, brew had ... We took off for parts foreign, i.e. the "back side" of the beacon a bit like the bear that went over the mountain, to see what we could see.
A few months ago I Blipped what I was lead to believe was an old "Drove road". Today, on our perambulations I'm pretty sure we drove along a continuation of it.
On a further whim we set off in the general direction of the water-mill at Little Salkeld, had another brew, bought some flour and a replacement hessian bag.
Anybody want to buy some shares in a water mill? After 39(?) yrs they are looking to retire and make way for younger hands, seems like there are no out and out purchasers on the horizon, but willing staff to carry on ... We shall see.
Anyway, the wheels?
We'll (SORRY) probably go back to do it, but they offer "Self-guided tours" of the mill ... "Here's your guide booklet, take yourself around." sorta thing.
We did, just, have time for a quick canter (LIAR) around the outside, up the front and down the back, where a gushing torrent was being diverted sideways
(Mill not working, no problem), took a look farther down and saw this wheel.
Thinks ... "That hasn't worked for a while.", a bit farther down was a covered area, wherein lurked the wheel proper, which may be blipped at a later date.
I can NOW see inside the wheel.
