I want me some of
that culture thang. So went bouncing around the National Gallery of Arts (home to some magnificent pre-Rafaelite art in one wing and contemporary - including Calder - in the other wing). This shot was taken in the contemporary wing, looking out to the West wing.
After seeing the very extensive gem collection in the Natural History museum, decided I wanted to become a geologist. Not so much for the cut stones that seemed to attract so much attention, but for the spectacular shapes, colors and formations of the raw materials. I mean, how fun would it be to dig up something that can instantly become a piece of art with just a bit of cleaning up? :)
