Alnwick
Up at 7 to take Phin for the field before it got too hot, although I think it was already in the high teens. He enjoyed his run about but was ready for a big drink when we got home.
Finished the final packing of stuff into the caravan and we were on the road by just after 10.30. Easy drive down the A1 to Alnwick and just a 10 minute queue to get into the campsite. It then took a while to get scanned in and handed our wristbands but we were all sorted within an hour or so. It’s some sight to see all the various mobile homes and tents around us. It seems a very friendly festival.
We arranged to meet my friend Barry for a coffee in the afternoon and managed to fit in a dip in the river for Phin before we headed across the Lion bridge into the market square. The festival is taking place in the pastures across the river from Alnwick castle, a magnificent backdrop, after coffee we managed a trip to Barter books and I picked up a travel book whilst Mr PHL bagged some art technique books. A refreshing drink in a beer garden and a trip into the supermarket for a couple of forgotten essentials before a hit walk back to the festival site.
Our friend Barry collected us at 7 and took us to his house for dinner. Their house is lovely, 1930s with original panelling , mature gardens and lovely features. It was lovely to catch up with his wife and the kids who enjoyed playing with Phin. He kindly drove us back to the site too. We could hear the last band of the evening playing when we got back, they sounded amazing.
Phin was worrying at his paw when we got back and on inside toon we realised he’d managed to injure his paw pad a little. The ground is full of thistles and is quite stone also so something has obviously irritated it. Cleaned, dried and plastered in sudocrem and wearing one of my ankle socks and it was time for bed.
Blip of one of The unusual lillies in their garden. Thanks to BikerBear for hosting.
Signal strength isn’t great so posting on Saturday for Friday.
