Sling in the woods

Still learning how to
keep the shoulder safe, so much
that jars or trips him.

Ben had a good night, it was a bit of an early start but that's OK.  He is definitely sore at times but he's very stoic.  The fracture clinic rang and said they think it'll just be the sling to manage it but they want to see him at 10am on Monday, so I'm pleased he'll be seen so quickly.  I think it's all sinking in a bit more today, he is so vulnerable to trips and falls.  We had a little walk around a little field with the dog and he stood on a stick, barely more than a twig and he stumbled and jarred his shoulder, it was clearly agony.  I really felt for him.  We had a little walk later on and made sure that one of us was right by his side to provide support (see Mr KCNQ2Haiku on duty in the photo!) It's such a hard balance because it would be safer to just stay wrapped up at home but he is getting so bored without the trampoline and his usual careering around.  I'm sure we'll get the hang of it and build up our confidence over time.
On the upside the weather has been cooler, just fractionally(!) but still, I appreciate it.  We even had some light drizzle - what joy!
Lovely neighbour from across the road came over to see how Ben was doing and bring an airtex sling that she used when she broke her shoulder.  We'll consult with the doctors but something lighter would be great as he's getting so hot and bothered in the thick one.
Mr KCNQ2Haiku has gone to a concert with a friend so I'm on showering duty, wish me luck!
