SAFE to BARBECUE

Shortly after we returned to Colorado, we decided to cook burgers on the grill.  
Surprise. Surprise. 
When # One opened the cover, he found the inside stuffed with nesting material and styrofoam insulation.
Surprise. Surprise. Surprise. 
Snuggled inside were 5 hairless baby Chickaree squirrels.
# One snapped that cover closed so fast, I didn’t even get a look.


Our Golden Retriever, Snickers, tried over and over to catch a Chickaree.
No way. Too fast. But the squirrel would taunt her, by making high pitched squeals, repeated every minute. Enough to drive a person crazy.


Today, we figured it safe to check on the nest. 
All babies gone. 
I snapped this after half the next was removed.
