Parenting?

Walking through the car park of a well know shopping mecca on the outskirts of Glasgow, when a kid around 3 or 4 years old starts running full speed away from his mother towards me coming in the opposite direction. When his mother eventually notices she hollers:

"Haul!! Git back here right noooo or that man will steal you!!!"

On what level do you start dissecting the idiotic nature of that statement ...poor kid and poor me.
