Insanity Machines

We took the girls to Narbonne today for their coach trip to Barcelona. The Sunday markets were on and we had a wander, then returned back. Janet and I took a walk along the canal and I managed to track down a couple of the circadas that have recently decided to commence their summer orchestration. Almost invisible on the tree trunks, they look like tiny machines, designed beautifully with one purpose - to emit the precise noise that induces insanity. That, along with the currently unidentified bird that goes "peep!" ever two seconds at 140dB, is the sound of summer in the Aude.
