Summer Solstice

It is a tradition in Austria to celebrate the Summer Solstice with a bonfire and other festivities. We took our visitor from Australia to our local festival in the National Park, Blockheide, which was wonderful despite a brief period of rain. We all dried out with a beer and something to eat and waited for dark when the children and youths lit the bonfire with tapers- see extra. (Would never happen in Australia). The voluntary fire brigade was in attendance and they gave the kids a chance to try out the big hose which they all loved.
