Scotney Castle

Before we drove home, we visited Scotney Castle, a National Trust property on the Kent border with West Sussex. Neither of us had been before so we weren’t sure what to expect but it was worth the visit - a stunning landscape (see extra). But the thing I must enjoyed (if that the right word) was the art installation in the castle. It was called The Red List by Jayne Ivimey, where she’d made a clay model of the 70 British birds that are on the endangered list. Shocking list of quite well known birds, such as starling, house martin, house sparrow, etc. Very thought provoking, and I enjoyed reading about her process to choose how to produce the work.

After lunch, we (Sue) drove home. But what a lovely couple of days away.
